Application for Trading at the Carnival 2025

This application is for trading on

Saturday 9th – Sunday 10th August 2025
At the Manchester Carnival in Alexandra Park, Manchester.

Process for applying for the right to trade at the Manchester Carnival
10% Early bird discount will be available for traders who submit their application, documents and payment by 31st of March 2025. However, the early discount does not apply to traders selling alcohol.

  1. Process for applying for the right to trade alcohol.
    Complete this application form. The closing date for submission of applications is 10th May 2025 at 5pm. Please complete all sections of the form and upload all documentation,
  2. Traders will be notified if they are successful or unsuccessful via email within 7 working days of full submission of all required documentation. We ask that all documents be submitted together.
  3. Successful traders will be required to make payment in full to secure their stall allocation. You will be invoiced accordingly if your application is successful.

There are no trading opportunities external to the Alexandra Park boundary. Stall spaces will be allocated upon arrival and following verification.

For your application to be valid you must:

  • Complete all relevant sections within the form
  • be eligible to work in the UK and provide documents to support this
  • have valid public liability insurance for a minimum of £5 million covering you / your business for trading on both days and provide evidence of this
  • Have a valid personal licence for selling alcohol.Only valid applications will be considered
  • Only successful applicants will be able to trade at the Manchester Carnival. Traders will not be allowed to trade if they arrive on the day without prior approved permission via this process*.

What you can and cannot sell.

Traders are able to sell food, non-food goods or both, this includes soft drink beverages (the sale of Alcohol is not permitted as part of the allocation.
You are not permitted to sell alcoholic drinks of any type i.e. Spirits, Ales, Beers, Lagers, Guinness, Port, Wine, Babycham, Rum Punch, Alcoholic Jellies or Legal highs. Nitro Oxide (laughing gas) is not permitted to be sold at Manchester Carnival.
Second-hand toys or electrical equipment, knives, solvents or any kind or real or imitation Firearms are not permitted. Traders are not permitted to sell illegal substances. No counterfeit goods or unauthorised copies of copyright Designs or Labels. Fortune–telling, Tattooing, Body piercing, Head massage, Hairdressing or Tarot reading are also not permitted.

    This Application Form should be completed as follows.

    Section 3 Trader Space

    All applicants are to complete this section. This section provides information about the type of trading space you require. Successful applicants will be provided with a trading space only. You must provide your own trading equipment. The size of one trading space is 4m x 4m and this includes your area for food prepping. Any additional areas will be classed as another trading space and incur additional costs.

    The size of one trading space for food vans is 6m x 6m and this includes your area for food prepping. Any additional areas will be classed as another trading space and incur additional costs.

    Supporting Information

    This sheet provides details of the supporting information that must be submitted with your application. Your application will not be considered until all of the relevant documents have been received. You are required to submit the following documentation with your application form;

    You can photocopy documents and send via email to stalls.manchestercarnival@outlook.com . If you intend to send your documents electronically via an email, you are required to ensure that they are in colour, and they must be one of the following file types:

    • Microsoft Word documents with the file extension '.doc'
    • Images with the file extension '.jpg'
    • Compressed files with the extension '.zip'
    • Files with the extension '.pdf'

    Proof of your legal right to work in the UK

    You must be eligible to work in the UK, and provide evidence of this. This can be your Passport or National identity card. Photocopies of passports must include the passport cover and whole of the personal details page, as well as any visa or endorsements showing your current right to work in the UK. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit this.

    Proof of address

    All applicants must provide at least TWO documents from this list, showing your full name and address. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit these.

    • Bank, building society, mortgage or other financial statement not more than three months old
    • Utility bill, e.g. electricity, gas, water, telephone, mobile phone not more than three months old
    • Credit card, store card or mail order catalogue statement not more than three months old
    • Government agency document, e.g. Benefits Agency, Employment Service, Inland Revenue not more than 12 months old

    Proof of public liability insurance (PLI)

    You must provide ONE document from the list below to provide documentary evidence of your public liability insurance

    • A copy of your public liability insurance policy schedule.
    • A copy of your National Market Traders Federation membership card
    All traders are required to have public liability insurance. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit this.

    Food Hygiene Rating certificate

    All food & drink traders must provide a copy of their food hygiene rating certificate, which has been formally issued by any local authority. How we use your information We use the personal information provided by you to communicate with you, for the management of the Event, to complete any bookings or agreements we may make with you, and for identification purposes. Your personal information may be shared internall, with the Council and with other agencies such as the Cabinet Office and the Health & Safety Executive, and may be used in data matching exercises, for the prevention and detection of fraud.
